- Fred Monroes's stupid Finder Hacks for MacHack 1991
- ---------------------------------------------------
-
- So for the past couple weeks I decided to rip
- apart the new system 7.0 Finder. I ended it up with three
- semi-useful hacks. Here they are.
-
-
- dropple menu:
- ------------
- Steve Falkenburg actually came up with this idea
- and helped me with writing some of the code. He probably
- would have done more but he was unable to attend MacHack.
- This hack allows you to drag items from the finder and
- drop them on items in the apple menu. The hack will make
- the finder act as if you had actually dropped the items
- on the items themselves. This hack is pretty stable. Note
- that any hack that I don't say is pretty stable probably
- isn't. An improvement you can expect to see in the future
- are dragging out of the apple menu.
-
-
- AKA:
- ------------
- This hack allows you to create aliases in the
- Finder more easily. Just as when you option drag an icon
- in the Finder it makes a copy of the item, with AKA when
- you ctrl-drag an item(s) in the finder it creates an
- alias at the destination location instead of moving the
- item itself. Because I accidentally deleted 80% of my
- source a few hours before the contest this version is
- still not perfect. I will release a more stable version
- in the near future.
-
-
- Basura:
- ------------
- When you command-delete, selected items in the
- front window of the finder will be thrown in the trash
- can. If you option-cmd-delete items will be thrown in the
- trash and then the trash can will be emptied.
-
- I hope you enjoy these hacks. If you have bugs or
- suggestions for improvements feel free to contact me by
- one of the means listed below.
